New York Rangers defeat Islanders as injury news hits both teams

The New York Rangers secured their fourth consecutive victory with a 5-2 win over the New York Islanders, led by Alexis Lafrenière, who recorded a hat trick and an assist. The win marks a strong start to the season for the Rangers, who currently lead the Metropolitan Division.

However, both teams face significant injury setbacks. The Islanders' Alexander Romanov suffered a torn ACL in his right knee following a collision with Mika Zibanejad, which is expected to sideline him for six to eight months. Additionally, the Rangers have placed forward Joe Veleno on injured reserve following an injury sustained during a game against the Utah Mammoth.

In other news, the New York Islanders are exploring the possibility of hosting an outdoor NHL game at the newly rebuilt Belmont Park racetrack, a venue that can accommodate up to 50,000 spectators.
