New York Rangers plot offseason overhaul amid trade rumors

The New York Rangers concluded a disappointing season, missing the playoffs for the second consecutive year and finishing near the bottom of the Eastern Conference. After trading star forward Artemi Panarin to the Los Angeles Kings, the team is evaluating its roster ahead of the offseason.

Veteran center Vincent Trocheck remains a top trade candidate, with NHL Insider Chris Johnston noting, “The veteran center spent most of the season at or near the top of our trade board and remains there now.” The Rangers have kept Trocheck, hoping stronger offers will emerge over the summer. Alongside potential trades, the club plans to use ample cap space to pursue free agents to bolster a struggling offense.

Goalie Igor Shesterkin, the team's standout player, posted a 2.50 GAA and a .912 save percentage despite some injuries. Management hopes to surround him with additional talent to reverse the team's fortunes next season.
