New York Rangers shift prospect development strategy

The New York Rangers are shifting their player development strategy to focus on North American acclimation. The organization expects at least 15 prospects to play in North America for the 2026–27 season, moving away from a recent heavy reliance on European-based development.

Key additions to the North American prospect pool include defenseman Zeb Lindgren, who will join the Red Deer Rebels of the WHL after playing in Sweden, and defenseman Felix Färhammar, who is joining the Muskegon USHL team before a planned move to UMass Amherst.

On the active roster, forward Pavel Dorofeyev has transitioned to the Rangers following an offseason acquisition from the Vegas Golden Knights. Dorofeyev, who signed a seven-year, $11 million annual extension, has found the transition to the New York area easier due to several years spent training with Rangers strength and conditioning consultant Ben Prentiss in Connecticut.
