New York Rangers sign forward Eeli Tolvanen to one-year deal

The New York Rangers have signed Finnish forward Eeli Tolvanen to a one-year contract worth $1.5 million. The deal comes as the team seeks to bolster its forward depth ahead of training camp.

Tolvanen, 27, joins the Rangers following a season with the Seattle Kraken where he recorded 12 goals and 36 points. He is noted for his versatility, having played on both wings and contributing to both the power play and the penalty kill. During his tenure in Seattle, he also developed a physical style of play, leading the team in hits.

A former first-round pick by the Nashville Predators in 2017, Tolvanen is expected to compete for a position in the Rangers' middle six. The contract represents a significant reduction from his previous two-year deal, which carried an average annual value of $3.475 million.
