New York Rangers lose 6-3 to Los Angeles Kings
The New York Rangers suffered a 6-3 defeat against the Los Angeles Kings at Madison Square Garden, snapping their undefeated home streak. The loss was marked by significant struggles in the goaltending position.
Veteran goaltender James Reimer, signed to a one-year, $850,000 contract to provide depth following season-ending injuries to Igor Shesterkin and Joonas Korpisalo, had a difficult debut. Reimer was pulled after the first period after allowing three goals on eight shots. Rookie Dylan Garand relieved him, conceding two goals on 17 shots.
For the Kings, Drew Doughty recorded a goal and two assists, while Artemi Panarin contributed a power-play goal and an assist. Taylor Ward and Brandt Clarke also scored early to establish a Los Angeles lead. The Rangers' scoring was led by J.T. Miller, Adam Fox, and Tye Kartye.
