New York Ranks Fifth for Aging Well but Falls to 39th in Health‑Care Performance

A national study by health‑staffing firm Nursa placed New York among the five best U.S. states for seniors, ranking it fifth overall. The ranking considered life expectancy, hospital capacity, nursing‑home quality, walkability, air quality and other factors, noting New Yorkers have the fourth‑longest life expectancy at 79 years and the third‑most nursing‑home beds.

Separately, WalletHub’s health‑care analysis gave New York an overall score of 50.98 out of 100, positioning the state 39th nationwide. The report broke the score into cost (50th), access (22nd) and outcomes (26th) rankings, highlighting high costs and mixed results on access and health outcomes.

Both studies underscore strengths and challenges in the state’s health system for residents of all ages.
