New York Red Bulls acquire David Ruiz on loan from Inter Miami

The New York Red Bulls have acquired Honduran international midfielder David Ruiz on loan from Inter Miami CF through the end of the 2026 MLS season. The agreement includes an option for New York to purchase the 22-year-old permanently at the conclusion of the loan period.

As part of the transaction, the Red Bulls will send $75,000 in 2027 General Allocation Money to Inter Miami. Ruiz, a Miami native, rose through the Inter Miami Academy and was the club’s first academy product to score for the first team. During his tenure with Inter Miami, he contributed to several title-winning campaigns, including the 2023 Leagues Cup, the 2024 Supporters’ Shield, and the 2025 MLS Cup.

Red Bulls head of sport Julian de Guzman noted that Ruiz brings technical quality and competitiveness that fits the club’s playing style. The move follows a period where Ruiz's playing time was limited due to injury.
