New York school districts prepare for upcoming academic year

School districts in the Capital Region of New York are preparing for the upcoming academic year with various initiatives. In the Albany City School District, Superintendent Joseph Hochreiter reported increased student enrollment in career and technical education (CTE) programs at Albany High School. This growth follows the unveiling of renovated spaces, including an industrial-grade culinary lab, cosmetology, barbering, and health sciences classrooms designed to mimic real-world workplaces.

Meanwhile, the Guilderland Central School District is preparing for a September 8 start date. Superintendent Daniel Mayberry noted that staff have been working throughout the summer to organize classrooms and collaborate on district projects. The district also held events to recognize long-term employees reaching milestone anniversaries, including instructional staff with 25 years of service and non-instructional staff with 20 years of service.
