New York State Police launch six-day speed enforcement campaign

The New York State Police have launched the ‘Fall Safe Speed’ enforcement campaign, a six-day initiative running from Tuesday, September 22, through Sunday, September 27, 2026. The campaign aims to reduce speeding, aggressive driving, and violations of the state’s Move Over Law.

To identify lawbreakers, troopers are utilizing both marked vehicles and Concealed Identity Traffic Enforcement (CITE) vehicles. These unmarked vehicles are designed to blend into regular traffic until emergency lights are activated.

The crackdown follows data from the University at Albany’s Institute for Traffic Safety Management and Research, which noted that speeding contributed to 315 fatal crashes and 12,232 injuries in New York during 2024.
