New York State Police launch traffic enforcement campaign

The New York State Police have launched the ‘Fall Safe Speed’ enforcement campaign, running from Tuesday, September 22, through Sunday, September 27, 2026. The initiative aims to reduce speeding and aggressive driving across the state, targeting behaviors that contribute to nearly one-third of all fatal crashes in New York. Troopers will utilize both marked vehicles and Concealed Identity Traffic Enforcement (CITE) vehicles, which are designed to blend into regular traffic to better identify lawbreakers.

In addition to active patrols, New York’s Automated Work Zone Speed Enforcement program is currently active. This program utilizes mobile speed cameras at 28 different locations across various counties, including Albany, Bronx, Erie, Monroe, and Onondaga, to monitor active construction and maintenance zones. These camera locations shift periodically based on weather and construction schedules.
