New York Times Connections puzzle provides daily word groupings

The New York Times daily word game, Connections, continues to see popularity as players seek to identify common threads between groups of words. The game, which features 16 words divided into four color-coded categories, resets daily and increases in difficulty.

For the September 3 puzzle, the categories included brief moments in time (BLINK, FLASH, HEARTBEAT, TRICE), shades of red (CARMINE, CINNABAR, MAROON, VERMILLION), toy car brands (HOT WHEELS, MATCHBOX, MICRO MACHINES, TONKA), and spreadsheet functions (AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, SUM).
