New York Times releases 50 Best 21st‑Century Thrillers list

The New York Times Book Review, together with The Upshot, surveyed hundreds of novelists, editors, booksellers, librarians and Bookstagrammers to compile a list of the 50 best thriller novels published since 2000. The ranking features well‑known authors such as Stephen King, John Grisham, Gillian Flynn, Lee Child, Freida McFadden and others, highlighting titles that have defined the genre over the past quarter‑century.

An Italian‑language commentary notes that despite strong sales and translations of Italian thriller writers like Donato Carrisi, Gianrico Carofiglio, Andrea Camilleri, Maurizio de Giovanni, Antonio Manzini and Sandrone Dazieri, none appear on the New York Times list, underscoring a divergence between the Anglo‑American market’s preferences and Italy’s prolific crime‑fiction output.
