New York vehicle arrests result in impound and felony gun‑drug charges

In New York, drivers arrested for driving while intoxicated often have their vehicles towed and impounded. Under Leandra's Law, arrests involving a child passenger can further delay release. Owners must provide proof of ownership, obtain a release from the arresting agency, and pay escalating towing and storage fees, sometimes requiring a judge’s sign‑off before the car can be retrieved.

Separately, New York State Police stopped a vehicle on Interstate 190 in Buffalo and discovered firearms and controlled substances. The driver, Luke J. McCabe, and passengers Gracelyn K. Crawford and Jaden J. Lofton were arrested and charged with felony gun and drug possession. The case is proceeding through the Erie County court system.
