New York Yankees designate pitcher Chase Hampton for assignment

The New York Yankees have designated 25-year-old right-handed pitcher Chase Hampton for assignment. The move comes as the team activates superstar Aaron Judge from the 60-day injured list to bolster their roster during the American League wild card race.

Hampton spent the current season in the minor leagues, appearing in 17 games across Single-A Tampa, High-A Hudson Valley, and Double-A Somerset. During his time in the minors, he recorded a 0-6 record and an 8.18 ERA with 56 strikeouts. His performance was most challenged at the Double-A level, where he posted a 9.59 ERA in 11 appearances.

By designating Hampton for assignment, the Yankees have removed him from the 40-man roster. He will now be placed on waivers, allowing other Major League clubs the opportunity to claim him.
