New York Yankees lose to Padres as Will Warren moves to bullpen role

The New York Yankees suffered a narrow 2-1 loss to the San Diego Padres at Petco Park. Despite pitching efforts from Max Fried, Will Warren, and David Bednar, the Yankees' offense struggled, producing only a solo home run by Ben Rice. The game was decided in the 10th inning when Luis Campusano hit a decisive swing against Paul Blackburn.

In a strategic move to manage the pitching staff, Yankees manager Aaron Boone announced that Will Warren will transition to a piggyback role in the bullpen. Following a strong seven-inning performance against the Red Sox, Warren is expected to pitch in relief of Max Fried, who is currently on a pitch limit as he recovers from a left elbow bone bruise. Boone noted that the decision is aimed at maximizing team wins and providing Warren with bullpen experience ahead of the playoffs.
