New York Yankees manage multiple injuries to Bellinger and Castro
The New York Yankees are managing multiple injuries to key players as they compete for the American League East title. Outfielder Cody Bellinger, who is recovering from a grade 2 left hamstring strain, has reportedly begun performing light outfield drills. His injury, sustained approximately two and a half weeks ago, typically requires a four to six week recovery period.
On the pitching staff, right-handed pitcher Kervin Castro has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to right elbow neuritis, effective August 10. The team has called up Bradley Hanner from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to fill the roster spot. Castro's injury follows an appearance on August 9 against the Braves.
Other Yankees pitchers remain in various stages of rehabilitation, including Clarke Schmidt, Luis Gil, and Carlos Rodon, who are all working through recovery from shoulder or elbow issues. The team currently holds a 67-52 record.
