New York Yankees may let Jazz Chisholm Jr. enter free agency
The New York Yankees are reportedly considering letting infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. enter free agency this offseason. While Chisholm has expressed interest in returning to the Bronx, reports suggest the club is unlikely to extend him a qualifying offer for the 2027 season. During his tenure, Chisholm recorded 19 home runs and 41 stolen bases in 137 games, notably becoming one of the few Yankees to achieve a 30-30 season in previous years.
Speculation regarding Chisholm’s future includes potential interest from the Detroit Tigers, who are expected to be aggressive in free agency. Other Yankees players heading into the offseason as pending free agents include Trent Grisham, Paul Blackburn, and Paul Goldschmidt.
In contrast to the situation with Chisholm, the Yankees are expected to extend a qualifying offer to closer David Bednar. Bednar recorded a 2.47 ERA across 64 relief appearances this season. Retaining Bednar would represent a significant financial commitment to the Yankees' bullpen.
