New York Yankees reportedly interested in Nationals' Jacob Young
The New York Yankees have reportedly expressed interest in Washington Nationals center fielder Jacob Young as they evaluate their outfield depth for the upcoming season. The potential move comes amid uncertainty regarding the Yankees' center field position following the departure of free agent Trent Grisham, who held the role until a summer hamstring injury.
Young, who remains under club control through 2029, offers defensive stability and versatility. During the recent season, he logged 1,085 innings in center field and recorded an 11 Outfield Assisted Average (OAA) with a 92-percent success rate. Offensively, Young posted a .252 batting average, a .318 on-base percentage, and 10 home runs in 471 plate appearances, while also contributing 18 stolen bases.
The Yankees appear to be looking for a dependable defensive fallback to support Spencer Jones, who has begun transitioning into the center field role but continues to work on defensive consistency and plate discipline.
