New Youth Plays Debut in Bosnia and Croatia
In Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the youth theater group performed "Tražeći Esmira" at the Bosnian National Theatre as part of the "Space for New Generations" project. The play adapts Nick Teunissen’s novel and incorporates real testimonies of the post‑war generation. Armin Behrem explained that "Tražeći Esmira is structured as a layered journey through fragments of childhood, collective memory and suppressed trauma."
In Rijeka, Croatia, the ensemble Peti ansambl presented "TO=TO" during the Rijeka Summer Nights festival. Inspired by fragments of Inger Christensen’s poem, the one‑hour production emphasized collective attention, diversity and inclusive performance, involving artists with disabilities and questioning conventional theatrical roles.
