New Zealand and Australia formalize space defense collaboration

The Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) and the Australian Defence Force (ADF) Space Command have formally endorsed a shared Space Vision Statement. This agreement aims to strengthen the Anzac partnership by fostering closer cooperation in the space domain, which is increasingly critical for modern military operations including communications, navigation, and intelligence.

Key objectives of the collaboration include enhancing personnel interchangeability, integrating capabilities, and improving operational readiness. The initiative follows the establishment of the RNZAF’s No. 62 Squadron, a dedicated unit focused on space activity, and seeks to develop the next generation of military space professionals through a shared framework.
