New Zealand and Australia ministers meet to discuss CER trade and tourism

New Zealand Trade and Investment Minister Todd McClay will host Australian Trade and Tourism Minister Don Farrell in Auckland for the annual Closer Economic Relations (CER) Trade Ministers meeting. The discussions aim to enhance the strength and resilience of the trans-Tasman partnership amid global economic volatility.

In addition to the ministerial meeting, officials will engage with various trans-Tasman businesses through an event hosted by the Australia New Zealand Leadership Forum. The two-way trade between the nations was valued at $35 billion in 2025, involving approximately 25,000 businesses.

Minister Farrell will also meet with New Zealand Tourism and Hospitality Minister Louise Upston to address tourism growth and shared priorities. The visit will include a program in the Bay of Islands focused on regional economic development and Māori tourism.
