New Zealand announces T20I squad for India series

New Zealand has announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against India, scheduled to begin on October 22 at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. Mitchell Santner will captain the side, which features a heavy emphasis on pace with seven specialist fast bowlers included.

All-rounder Rachin Ravindra has been ruled out of the series after dislocating his right shoulder during a promotional shoot. Head coach Rob Walter stated that Ravindra is expected to undergo approximately six weeks of rehabilitation, with the goal of having him available for the ODI series starting November 4. Bevon Jacobs has been included in the squad to address the vacancy.

In a boost for the bowling attack, Adam Milne returns to the national setup after more than a year away from international cricket. He joins a pace unit that includes Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Jacob Duffy, Zak Foulkes, and Nathan Smith. Additionally, spin all-rounder Michael Bracewell returns to the squad following injury.

The T20I series is the opening segment of India’s 12-match tour of New Zealand, which also includes five ODIs and two Tests. More than 76,000 tickets have already been sold for the tour.
