New Zealand Breakers focus on defense while finalizing roster for NBL27

New Zealand Breakers have hired former NBA assistant Gordie Herbert as head coach and are now targeting defensive upgrades ahead of the Hungry Jack’s NBL27 season. President of Basketball Operations Dillon Boucher said the team needs two import players – a rim‑protecting forward and a versatile combo forward – to bolster their defence.

The club also completed its local core by signing 25‑year‑old Kiwi big man Anzac Rissetto to a one‑year deal after his stint in Germany. Rissetto, a 208 cm forward/centre, adds physicality and experience, leaving the two import spots as the next priority.
