New Zealand Breakers seek import guard amid roster shake-up
The New Zealand Breakers are reportedly searching the import market for a new guard to support Parker Jackson-Cartwright. Following a 97-93 loss to the Perth Wildcats, coach Gordie Herbert noted the team's need for additional ball handling, stating that Jackson-Cartwright is currently required to “do everything.”
Potential roster changes may occur within the next two weeks. Reports suggest that wing import Josiah-Jordan James, who is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, could be replaced to make room for a point guard. Other players, such as Charles Bediako, are expected to retain their positions.
Separately, the Breakers are preparing to host Cairns at Spark Arena as part of their NBL Ignite Cup defense. Jackson-Cartwright enters the matchup in career-best form, averaging 26.3 points per game. Coach Herbert emphasized that while the team is mindful of the Ignite Cup's unique quarter-based scoring system, the primary objective remains winning the game and improving offensive rebounding.
