New Zealand Customs arrests six meth couriers in Operation Trammel

Customs officials in New Zealand arrested six young men, aged 22 to 25, after they were charged with importing an estimated 93 kg of methamphetamine from Malaysia. The arrests, made in the Manukau District Court, are part of a wider investigation called Operation Trammel, which has resulted in 22 arrests and 31 search warrants since January.

Authorities say the syndicate recruited the couriers via social‑media platforms, promising overseas travel, cash and a glamorous lifestyle. Customs Investigations Manager Dominic Adams warned that criminal groups are exploiting social media to lure young people into high‑risk illegal activity, urging the public to be wary of offers that sound too good to be true.
