New Zealand food charities receive $50,000+ grants and hunter‑butcher meals donation
The Foodstuffs South Island Community Trust approved $50,533 in funding for twelve South Island charities, supporting school meals, food pantries and essential baby items during winter. Trust chair Lucy Boock said the grants help “provide critical services which make a real difference in their communities.”
A separate initiative in Wellington saw the NZ Game Animal Council, Game Changer NZ, the New Zealand Deerstalkers Association and Cameron Harrison Butchery donate 775 meals of venison to local foodbanks. Council CEO Corina Jordan highlighted the value of “high‑quality protein” for households under cost‑of‑living pressure, while Wild Game Recovery Trust founder Wayne Langford praised the model for turning a wild‑game resource into nutritious meals for families in need.
