New Zealand, Japan, and Australia top travel wish lists for adults over 50
A study commissioned by Icelandair and conducted by OnePoll involving 2,000 adults has identified the top travel aspirations and regrets of individuals over the age of 50. The research highlights New Zealand, Japan, and Australia as the most desired destinations for this demographic. Other popular bucket-list locations include Canada, the Maldives, and Iceland.
Common regrets among older adults include not traveling enough, a lack of spontaneous trips, and prioritizing work over adventure. Despite these regrets, 71% of respondents believe it is never too late to make up for lost time. Many participants noted that visiting new places or experiencing natural phenomena could positively impact their lives.
The study identified several barriers to travel: financial constraints were cited by 44% of respondents, followed by family responsibilities at 24% and other personal priorities at 22%.
