New Zealand Food Safety Minister Andrew Hoggard is attending the 11th Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Food Security Ministerial Meeting (FSMM) in China. Minister Hoggard stated that New Zealand’s participation aims to reinforce support for open, rules-based trade and the development of resilient food systems. The discussions focus on tackling shared challenges such as climate change, resource constraints, pests, diseases, and supply chain disruptions. Key areas of interest include promoting sustainable agriculture, innovation, and digitalization to increase agricultural productivity.
During the visit, Hoggard will also engage in bilateral meetings and meet with stakeholders, including the New Zealand Business Roundtable in China and various New Zealand business leaders. He is scheduled to return from China on 28 August.
