New Zealand National Party proposes screen bans for young students

The National Party has announced a new policy to ban screen usage in Early Childhood Education centres. The proposal also includes significantly limiting screen use for children in Years 1 to 3 in primary schools. This follows previous guidance from the National Party regarding phone bans in schools.

In parliamentary news, Te Pāti Māori co-leader Debbie Ngarewa-Packer and MP Oriini Kaipara were involved in a controversy during a session on September 17. After Kaipara was told her use of the word ‘bullcrap’ was not in line with parliamentary language, Ngarewa-Packer used a profanity during a debate regarding National’s Move On orders legislation.
