New Zealand National Party unveils 100-day re-election plan
The New Zealand National Party has released a 26-point 100-day plan outlining its priorities if re-elected. Leader Christopher Luxon unveiled the agenda at a rally in Auckland, emphasizing the need for continued economic management and safety measures.
Key policy commitments include extending paid parental leave to 27 weeks by July 2027, increasing the First Home Loan income cap to $300,000, and reducing student loan repayments from 12 to 10 cents on the dollar. The plan also proposes launching a trade mission to India focused on food, beverage, and seafood exports following a recent free trade agreement.
Economic and regulatory measures include issuing a Budget Policy Statement, implementing budget responsibility rules, and capping council rate increases between 2 and 4 percent. The party also intends to empower the Commerce Commission to investigate the Foodstuffs split within six months and introduce changes to KiwiSaver. Other social and infrastructure goals involve providing free cervical screening for women aged 25 to 69 and developing a Home Energy Fund for solar and insulation loans.
