New Zealand police seize cocaine, LSD and taser after high‑speed traffic chases

Police in New Zealand conducted two separate traffic operations that resulted in drug and weapon seizures. In Darfield, Selwyn District, officers stopped a driver with a suspended licence who then fled on the wrong side of the road. After a high‑speed pursuit the vehicle was halted, and a search uncovered cocaine, LSD and a taser. The driver faces charges for driving while suspended, dangerous driving, possession of controlled drugs and a prohibited weapon.

In a separate incident near Takanini and Conifer Grove, police responded to a noisy argument at a traffic light, pursued a stolen vehicle that had fled on the wrong side of the road, and later boxed it in. The 29‑year‑old driver was arrested and charged with offences including failing to stop, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, driving while suspended, possession of methamphetamine, cannabis, dangerous driving and related items. He is due to appear in Papakura District Court.
