New Zealand prepares for India cricket tour

New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner is preparing for an upcoming multi-format tour by India, which will include five ODIs, five T20Is, and two Test matches between October and December.

Santner noted the challenge of facing veteran players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, describing them as ‘masters of the ODI game’ who have previously performed well on New Zealand pitches. The series serves as critical preparation for the next ODI World Cup.

The Test component of the tour, scheduled for November in Wellington and Christchurch, holds significance for the World Test Championship. New Zealand currently sits third in the standings, while India is in fifth. The tour follows a period of New Zealand success against India, including a 3-0 Test series whitewash in 2024 and a 2-1 ODI series win in January 2026.
