New Zealand rugby players receive major honors
New Zealand rugby players Kaipo Olsen-Baker and Elinor Plum-King have been named the World Rugby women's player of the year and world breakthrough player of the year, respectively. Olsen-Baker received the top honor following a series sweep by the Black Ferns against France in the WXV tournament.
In the Women’s Rugby League World Cup, the Kiwi Ferns secured a 40-12 victory over Papua New Guinea on the Gold Coast. Despite a difficult first half where Papua New Guinea led 12-8, New Zealand dominated the second half with five tries to maintain a perfect pool match record. The win advances New Zealand to a semi-final matchup against Samoa.
Additionally, Fiji made history in the Women’s Rugby League World Cup by defeating France 54-6. This victory ensures Fiji reaches the semi-finals in their first tournament appearance, where they will face Australia.
