New Zealand sailors qualify for gold fleet at ILCA 7 World Championship

The 2026 ILCA 7 Men’s World Championship in Dún Laoghaire, Ireland, has progressed through the qualifying stages. New Zealand sailors Tom Saunders, George Gautrey, and Caleb Armit have successfully qualified for the gold fleet. Saunders currently holds 16th place overall, while Armit saw a significant rise in ranking, moving from 78th to 39th.

In the overall standings, Ireland’s Finn Lynch maintains the lead with nine points, followed by Germany’s Ole Schweckendiek and Hungary’s Jonatán Vadnai.

Bermuda’s Sebastian Kempe and Campbell Patton are also competing in the championship. Kempe is currently 69th overall in the yellow fleet, while Patton sits at 113th in the blue fleet. The event features 141 sailors representing numerous nations.
