New Zealand Skin Health Initiatives Expand Domestically and Abroad
A New Zealand skincare company founded by internationally recognised skin‑cancer specialist Professor Sharad Paul is seeking a $4 million strategic investment to scale its US operations. Healthy Skin Lab, which has secured FDA registration for its tinted SPF 50 moisturizer, plans to increase manufacturing capacity, broaden retail distribution through pharmacies and major retailers such as Walgreens and Whole Foods, and use the US base to support further expansion into the UK and Europe.
At the same time, the New Zealand government has announced a $23 million investment to improve community skin‑cancer services. Health Minister Simeon Brown said the funding will enable GP clinics to up‑skill in dermoscopy and on‑site lesion removal, reducing reliance on hospital appointments and private care. The programme aims to provide a nationally consistent approach to early detection and treatment of suspicious skin spots, improving outcomes for patients across the country.
