New Zealand Tall Blacks name squad for FIBA World Cup Qualifiers

New Zealand Tall Blacks head coach Judd Flavell has announced the squad for the upcoming window of the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers. The roster features eight players from the NBL, including Sam Mennenga, Carlin Davison, Reuben Te Rangi, and Tobias Cameron from the Breakers, as well as Shea Ili, Sam Waardenburg, Flynn Cameron, and Luca Yates.

Notable returns to the squad include Flynn Cameron, following his participation in the NBA Summer League, and veteran Corey Webster, who returns after recovering from an Achilles tear. The selection marks only the second time in the team's history that two sets of brothers have appeared in the same squad.

The Tall Blacks are entering the second round of the Asian Qualifiers, competing in Group E against Iran, Syria, and Jordan. The upcoming window will be hosted in the Philippines, with matches against Iran and Syria scheduled for August 28 and August 30. A top-three finish in the group is required to secure a spot in the 2027 World Cup in Qatar.
