The Palestine Solidarity Network Aotearoa wrote to Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, urging the New Zealand government to vote against the removal of International Criminal Court Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan. The group called for a proper judicial process, stating, “This is a pivotal moment for the International Criminal Court and New Zealand must stand up for our values and our support for international law.”

The appeal references allegations of misconduct against Khan and a recent UN oversight chief’s claim that the ICC’s executive body may have "stitched up" the decision to suspend him. Over 5,000 pages of evidence were gathered, and a judicial panel concluded it was "unanimously of the opinion" that the factual findings warranted careful review. The PSNA letter emphasises that New Zealand should not pre‑empt the ICC’s own proceedings and should insist on adherence to due process.

The statement underscores New Zealand’s role in supporting international law and the importance of independent judicial assessments in the ICC’s governance.
