New Zealand wins eighth OFC U-16 Women’s Championship title

New Zealand secured their eighth OFC U-16 Women’s Championship title with a 4-0 victory over New Caledonia in the final held at the National Stadium in Honiara. Captain Bonnie Rice scored twice in the second half to break a scoreless first half, followed by late goals from Kodi Wilson and Louisa Egley-Turner. This win maintains New Zealand’s perfect tournament record since 2010.

In a separate match, Samoa defeated the host nation Solomon Islands 2-0 to secure fifth place. Samoa captain Taimane Devoux contributed to both goals, assisting Brooklyn Leaupepe-Nickel for the opener before scoring a second half volley herself. The Solomon Islands concluded their home campaign without a victory across four matches.
