Newborn baby girl rescued after being found abandoned in Benue forest

A newborn baby girl was rescued alive after being found abandoned in a carton in the Ashar forest of the Wuese community, located in the Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State. The infant, who is believed to have been left in the forest for approximately three days, was discovered on Saturday by a resident, Mrs Mbakasev Yisa, after hearing signs of life coming from the container.

Witnesses reported that the baby was wrapped in clothes and found in critical condition. Following the discovery, local officials and police documented the scene and directed that the infant receive medical attention. After an initial clinic declined admission due to the severity of her condition, she was moved to Dooshima Clinic in Wuese for treatment.

The Benue State Police Command stated they had not yet received an official report regarding the incident.
