Newborn girl found abandoned at Duc Son Pagoda in Hue

A newborn baby girl was found abandoned in front of the gates of Duc Son Pagoda in Thuy Xuan Ward, Hue City. The infant, weighing approximately 3kg, was discovered on the afternoon of August 11.

Accompanying the child were bags containing clothing, towels, diapers, and other infant supplies. A handwritten letter was left with the baby, stating she was born on August 7, 2026. The letter detailed the child's vaccination information and explained that the family was unable to care for her due to extreme financial hardship, requesting that the pagoda provide care and upbringing.

Local authorities from the Thuy Xuan Ward People's Committee have temporarily placed the infant under the care of the social protection facility at Duc Son Pagoda while legal procedures are finalized. The child was examined at Hue Central Hospital and was found to be in good health. This marks the third instance in the past year where Thuy Xuan Ward authorities and the pagoda's social protection facility have assisted in caring for abandoned infants.
