Newburgh Police arrest ATV rider after reckless chase

Edwardo Moreno Jr., 34, of New Windsor, was arrested following a police chase in Newburgh on Thursday, August 13. Officers initially observed a 2013 Honda ATV being operated recklessly on Farrington Street, noting violations such as failing to stop at stop signs and disregarding traffic safety laws.

After police activated their lights and sirens, the driver fled through city streets and Downing Park. The pursuit continued until the driver traveled the wrong way on Johnston Street. Moreno Jr. eventually stopped near 161 Johnston Street, where he attempted to evade capture by hiding in nearby backyards.

The Newburgh Police Department impounded the ATV and charged Moreno Jr. with reckless driving, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, and unlawful operation of an ATV under Newburgh City Code 287-3. He was also issued several traffic tickets.
