Newcastle and Hunter Rugby League finals progress to week two

The first week of the Newcastle and Hunter Rugby League (NHRL) finals has concluded, determining several matchups for the upcoming rounds. In the Ladies League Tag (LLT) C-grade elimination final, the Thornton Beresfield Bears advanced to week two following an 18-4 victory over Stockton. The East Maitland Griffins, B-Grade LLT minor premiers, are set to face Shortland in the major semi-final.

In the men's D-grade, the Morpeth Bulls will utilize their second chance against the Abermain Hawks after a 26-20 loss to Waratah Mayfield. In the A-grade division, Waratah Mayfield has secured a spot in the grand final against minor premiers Cardiff, following a 22-6 win over Dudley. University also progressed after a 44-6 elimination final win against Windale.

Starting from week two, the finals will move to the Lakeside Complex in Raymond Terrace, with the grand finals scheduled for Saturday, September 12.
