Newcastle book clubs foster community through local literature

Newcastle offers various book clubs hosted by local businesses and organizations, providing opportunities for literature enthusiasts to connect.

MacLean's Booksellers, the city's oldest independent bookseller located on Beaumont Street in Hamilton, plays a central role in this community. Under the ownership of Kathy Sloss, who purchased the business in 2023, the shop hosts free monthly sessions. These include a literary book club held every third Tuesday and a science fiction/fantasy book club held on the last Wednesday of each month.

These gatherings are designed to be intimate and engaging, often leading to lasting friendships among participants.
