Newcastle disease outbreak expands in Arévalo, Spain

Veterinary authorities in Castilla y León have reported a new outbreak of Newcastle disease in the Arévalo region of Ávila. The affected farm contains 46,390 unvaccinated broiler chickens.

This latest incident brings the total number of reported outbreaks to 29. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the total number of birds under sanitary restrictions has reached 1,810,447.

The province of Valladolid remains the most heavily impacted area, with numerous confirmed outbreaks in municipalities such as Olmedo, Tordesillas, and Íscar. One farm in Olmedo alone holds 301,191 birds, the largest single census recorded. The virus has also spread to Segovia, Salamanca, and Zamora.
