Newcastle Jets secure Ford Australia partnership and face academy venue issues
The Newcastle Jets have announced a major commercial partnership with Ford Australia for the 2026/27 season. Under the agreement, the automotive brand will feature on the sleeves of the club’s A-League Men’s jerseys, aiming to connect the company with fans and families throughout the Hunter region.
Separately, the club is facing logistical challenges regarding its academy program. Parents of players in the academy, which includes approximately 200 players across 13 teams, have expressed frustration following a forced move from their long-term training base at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility.
The relocation to Ray Watt Oval at the University of Newcastle follows reports that a new deal to use the Speers Point facility was derailed by outstanding debts related to hiring fees. The move impacts several academy squads, including the girls' academy and various boys' teams, ahead of the Football NSW Youth League One competition starting in mid-February.
