Newcastle Pride parade celebrates community visibility

Approximately 100 participants marched from Honeysuckle to Nobbys Beach on Saturday, October 24, for the Newcastle Pride parade. The event featured rainbow flags and centered on the theme of being ‘seen, heard, and celebrated,’ according to founder Lee-Anne McDougall.

Attendees included community members expressing support for equality and inclusivity. Participants noted the importance of regional events for LGBTQ+ visibility, with some highlighting the need for safe spaces for transgender individuals and the value of community connection within the Hunter region.
