Amar Dedić to join Newcastle United from Benfica in €35m deal

Newcastle United has reached an agreement to sign Bosnian international right-back Amar Dedić from Benfica. The transfer is valued at approximately €35 million (roughly £29.5 million), with Benfica reportedly securing a sell-on clause for future transfers.

Dedić, 23, is expected to undergo medical examinations in England following his departure from Lisbon. The move allows him to reunite with former RB Salzburg manager Matthias Jaissle, who is currently leading Newcastle's squad rebuilding efforts. The player had expressed a strong desire to join the Premier League club as his top priority.

Benfica coach Marco Silva confirmed that the transfer is in an advanced stage, noting that Dedić would be excluded from recent squad preparations due to the ongoing negotiations. While the club expressed a desire to retain the defender following his strong performances last season, the financial aspects of the deal were ultimately prioritized by the club's management.
