Newcastle United announces £190m training complex and SumUp partnership

Newcastle United has announced a major expansion of its infrastructure and commercial partnerships. The club has agreed to purchase the 260-acre Woolsington Hall estate to develop a £190 million ($259 million) world-class training complex. The project, which includes restoring a listed country house and parkland, is intended to house the men’s first team and academy, with a target move-in date of the 2029/30 season.

This significant investment by the club’s owners, including the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) and RB Sports & Media, serves as a signal of long-term commitment to the club following several high-profile player departures. The development is subject to planning permission, with a formal application expected in early 2027.

In a separate commercial move, Newcastle United has entered a multi-year partnership with fintech company SumUp. As the Official Training Kit Partner, SumUp’s branding will appear on the training and pre-match apparel for the men’s, women’s, and academy teams. The deal also includes SumUp serving as the Presenting Partner of the Newcastle United Business Club and the launch of a co-branded SumUp card for fans.
