Newcastle United completes £18 million signing of French goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen
Newcastle United have finalized the transfer of 20‑year‑old French goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen from Stade de Reims. The deal, reported to be worth £18 million with additional performance‑related add‑ons, was confirmed after Jaouen passed his medical on 9 June 2026 and signed a four‑year contract. Jaouen, who has made 60 appearances for Reims and featured on loan at Rodez and Dunkerque, is expected to provide competition for the existing goalkeeper roster and could initially serve as backup to Nick Pope.
The transfer was first reported by Canal+ in France, which cited an earlier €28.5 million (≈£24.6 million) agreement. Subsequent reports from UK outlets refined the fee to the £18 million figure. Newcastle United have also confirmed the departure of several senior players this summer, making Jaouen the club’s first signing of the 2026 transfer window.
