Newcastle United defeats West Brom 3-2 to advance in EFL Cup

Newcastle United advanced to the third round of the EFL Cup following a 3-2 comeback victory against West Bromwich Albion at St James' Park. Isaac Price opened the scoring for the Championship side with a free kick in the 19th minute.

Newcastle responded through Bazoumana Toure, who scored in the 38th minute. Substitute Harvey Barnes gave the Magpies the lead in the 48th minute, but West Brom equalized via a penalty converted by Price after Lewis Hall committed a handball.

Barnes secured the win for Newcastle with his second goal of the match in the 81st minute. Prior to kickoff, the club officially presented new signing Nico Gonzalez, who joined from Manchester City in a £52 million transfer.

Newcastle is set to face Millwall in the next round of the competition.
